McHenry: Democrats Are Once Again Leaving Town Without Supporting Small Businesses

Washington, October 1, 2020 -

Today, the top Republican on the House Financial Services Committee, Patrick McHenry (NC-10), issued the following statement after Speaker Pelosi and House Democrats once again pushed through their partisan bill that does not provide relief to small businesses and workers in need:

“It’s shameful that Democrats are once again leaving town without supporting small businesses and their employees struggling to hang on. Speaker Pelosi’s latest bill is another insincere offer and is still chock-full of Democrat priorities that have nothing to do with COVID-relief. Specifically, Democrats’ long-held goal of socializing the credit reporting and student loan industries, which would be disastrous for future borrowers. Republicans stand ready to work with Democrats when they get serious about providing targeted relief instead of pushing their socialist wish list.”
