McHenry Statement in Response to Navarro Speech on EXIM

Washington, March 28, 2019 -

In response to a speech given by Dr. Peter Navarro, Director of the Office of Trade and Manufacturing Policy, at the 2019 Annual Conference of the Export-Import Bank of the United States (EXIM), House Financial Services Committee Ranking Member Patrick McHenry (NC-10) released the following statement:

“As antagonistic regimes like China continue to prop up their domestic industries, American businesses and job creators are left behind. Rather than fighting on a level playing field, they are up against direct and overwhelming competition from companies whose efforts are supported by foreign export credit agencies. This must change. In the face of this unprecedented foreign threat, we need an export credit agency that is innovative and nimble in its actions, allowing our firms to compete, create jobs, and increase economic growth here in America.”
